The Lemon Tree Collective is an organization founded by Helen Fares in early 2024 to evacuate sick people and children from Gaza.
After doing multiple successful evacuations of predominantly sick children and pregnant women in 2024, we are now working on three projects in Egypt, South and Northern Gaza.
In Gaza we buy weekly food boxes containing rice, flour, oil, sometimes fruit and vegetables (whatever is available) and materials for tents, so displaced families have at least somewhat of a place to sleep in – that’s of course if these things are available. Currently, buying food parcels for families that don’t live in direct proximity, has become extremely dangerous for our colleagues, so they send the money to the families in order for them to buy food themselves.
In Egypt we support Gazan families that were able to evacuate with paying for their basic needs, because they are unable to work in Egypt. We cover rent and in the case of emergencies we pay for medical bills too.
